I started with car paintings when I was around 16 years old. Until that time I hadn't really been painting much at all. What got me started was actually a school project, my art-teacher told my class that we were going to have to choose a theme that we wanted to work with during the whole semester. Since I was interested in cars, my theme was car paintings. After getting very encourage continuing with this newly found hobby of mine I started to paint at home, but only cars of course! Still it wasn't until I sold my first car painting, which was a Ferrari 512 painting that I really got into painting and drawing cars. But it wasn't about selling prints or paintings that pushed me to go on, no it was the encouragement I got from doing it. I mean here I was doing something just for fun and someone was willing to pay for it, that was pretty neat, especially being around 17 or so. Over the years I have been painting lots of different cars, like Ferrari Enzo, F50, F40, 250 GTO, Porsche 911 Turbo, BMW M3, Lamborghini Murcielago, Countach, Diablo, Gallardo, Mercedes SLR, McLaren F1 and the list goes on and on!! But on the last couple of years I have learned to appreciate other type of cars, like the pre war racing cars, classic Saabs, Cadillac's and many more. I think if I wouldn't have started painting cars I would never have developed such a broad love for all kinds of cars that I have today. Is it always fun to paint cars? Lots of people have asked me this type of question and the answer is simply yes. The whole progress is what is so fun and interesting, to see the painting develop little by little is always very nice. Still drawing / painting cars isn't always "a walk in the park", it can be very frustrating when you don't get it right and just spend hours and hours of fine-tuning it and still it looks bad. But in the end the result makes the frustrating hours spent all worth it! Well that I a little bit of how I got started with this great hobby.
