Your work is very good. If you want to learn to do photo realism no one can tell you an exact science..

One way I've tried is using a BALL POINT PEN .. there is no going back to shadowing dark or light.

Practice with a pen using cross hatch and use a papermate model PAP33311 as it relies on pressure to the ball point.

The papermate and many ballpoints will help you use how much pressure to apply to the paper to create shadows. (sharpen your pencil skills too)

Your drawings are very good but when doodling for fun, use a pen as you cannot correct mistakes and dont toss the work if you make a mistake, keep going on the same paper and your mistakes will stare at you.. so you dont forget how you made them..

just my two cent...

blinkingyellow is 100% right.

Addition to what he said, on easy thing to add to your drawing:

Dark areas, make them really really dark, this is quite easy to do with a 8b pencil or even a black pen. When you have dark areas on the drawings, it will just give it more of a realistic feel to it. When i say dark areas, i mean areas around the wheels, shadow under the car, parts of tires etc.

For materials, i usually just use something like one 2b pencil, one 4b pencil and one 8b or 9b pencil. And a good eraser!

I will try to add more tips later, perhaps with some picture to try to illustrate what i mean as my english has never been my strength!

What about charcoal pencils? i've used them for some drawings and they are dark black right away, and then you rub out the smudged areas where you don't want it

Charcoal is an excellent choice. I just place a dot in one corner of the paper and call it the light source or the sun.

Study photographs of vehicles, they have a light point and darken from the point of light. If you study light sources it becomes clear on your approach.

I've had a hard time with charcoal as I had no idea on how to use them initially and tossed a lot of paper in the wastebasket. I moved from charcoal to airbrush after I got a feel of the charcoal.

It is an excellent choice as you move toward Photorealism.

Charcoal is similar to airbrushing in reverse.
